The hills just above Valle Soprana are called the Colle Asino. A trail running along the tops of these hills was once used as a mule path for carrying lumber and charcoal from the hills around Campotosto to Teramo and farther along towards the Adriatic Sea. A court case brought by the Aceti family of Valle Soprana involved the public access to this trail and was settled at a court in Rome.
